Analysis

Analysis is very important but also a tricky part of making elearning material. It is the phase in which most people tend to pay less than adequate attention. If you do, the result of the analysis will be painfully missed while writing the storyboard. I have collected some ideas, which may come in handy during the analysis.

The analysis of business courses may fill thick manuals. Here we only focus on the educational side. Even these are all not needed. So the idea is to use this list as follows.

Read the guidelines and ask the questions:

  • Which items from the list do you need to use in your case?
  • If not, why not?
  • Is there any information that will be missing if you skip this question?

The analysis stage is supported by tools (forms and survey templates). Don't regard them as the only way to carry out your analysis. You have to adjust them for the purpose of the survey content. Therefore, they can only serve as a model, and you will have to develop the forms by modifying them.

You may easily make the following mistakes if you skip the analysis:

  • The material is not consistent with the requirements of the curriculum and/or learning outcomes
  • It is not in line with the expectations of the students
  • Too easy / too hard - dull or frustrated to the audience
  • Incomplete or unnecessary repetition of content
