Connectivism

The output is given, you have to find out all the rest, what you need, the way to get and process any information. Learning without teaching.

Children can easily learn - informal learning - then schools mess up everything, supressing curiosity and motivation, due to the lack of sufficient stimulation and incentive. Similarly, you can easily learn - if learning is the right word - new technology (e.g. gadgets), while adults have difficulties with it. It means self-organized learning instead of centrally organized learning. It is based on the theory that knowledge is created by communities, and the best way to learn is similar to the method of cavemen: to learn by close observation, to teach each other, then do it. The method itself is not new, only the realization that this is one form of learning. It is not new in technology, but a new vision of education, a strong emphasis on community education.

It can complement the traditional methods, but should not be used independently, since there are no learning objectives. However if there are goals, they are determined by the student, not by curriculum.

The method is built on using the Web 2.0 applications. Not only using the social network sites but by developing them and contributing to them i.e. learning by doing. The main element is creating the learning material on your own, for yourself, according to your needs and objectives. The hierarchically organized learning is replaced by the decentralized learning process, using community sites such as blogs, wiki articles, podcasts and virtual worlds, such as Second Life. It is non-hierarchical, as it is based on spontaneous exchange of information. It is democratic as everyone can participate in it, making comments and adding content. A bottom-up approach, an evolutionary product that hopefully meets your actual needs.
