The structure

The structure depends on the elements and on the Learning Management System. So, before designing the templates, you have to learn the LMS you will use, its features (type of elements) and the possible arrangements of the elements. You can pack your content into a website, too. In this case the best way to start the design by drawing up a flow chart of navigation.  

Considerations for making the flow chart

• Entering and ending points are indispensable
• It shouldn’t be too elaborate and/or lenghty. If it is, break the material into smaller units, and work out them on by one.
• Use branches for feedback and tailoring the material.

Tools

You can develop your storyboard by using Word, PowerPoint, Freehand, InDesign, Illustrator, or any kind of authoring tool. There are software developed to write storyboard, but I don’t think it is worth investing in them if you are a non-professional elearninger.
The most common tools are the Word and PPT. If you use PowerPoint, you can make notes in the note section, or you can reserve that place for the colleauges’ comments, which is very handy.
