Previous | Resonance occurs when the frequency of tilt coincides with the natural frequency of the balance therefore the amplitude will grow. The greater amplitude enables to see well the increased change. The hands of the balance are on a tilted plane during the rotation. When the resonance is perfect the angle of this plane doesn't change. By using a light pointer the resonance can be detected in an exact way. The growth of resonance is limited by the arising friction forces. |
